Radiology

Radiology is a medical speciality that uses imaging to diagnose and treat diseases seen within the body.

Radiologists use a variety of imaging techniques such as X-ray radiography, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), nuclear medicine including positron emission tomography (PET), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to diagnose and/or treat diseases. Interventional radiology is the performance of (usually minimally invasive) medical procedures with the guidance of imaging technologies. (Wiki article)

EPCR Radiology Services Include:

  • X-ray
  • Ultrasound Scan
  • MRI
  • CT
  • Mammography

As a patient, you cannot directly refer yourself for a diagnostic examination. However, it is a very quick process for your doctor / specialist / physiotherapist / osteopath / chiropractor to refer you.
Direct referrals for radiological investigations can be booked through East Point Consulting Rooms, for both insured and self- funding patients, including plain x-rays, ultrasound scans, CT and MRI scans, and mammography. Any radiology requests can be faxed or emailed to East Point Consulting Rooms on the usual numbers, and we will do the rest – please remember to tick the PP box on the form. The report will be returned to the doctor requesting the investigation. If the investigation shows anything that requires further assessment or treatment, EPCR will be more than happy to guide you to the specialist best placed to provide on-going care for your patient, through the usual referral pathway.
